Halftime for viral advertising

As you know, I’ve been thinking about the best online ads of all time (one post below). Something occurred to me while digging around on YouTube. The way that clips are shown on the site and indeed if you embed clips in a blog is quite interesting.

The image you see is a frame exactly in the middle of the clip. How important is it that this frame is compelling? I have pulled out a couple of obvious examples. Some work better than others.

Gorilla works (a coincidence?), the frame from the Kylie viral is weird. Maybe this halftime frame would be a good place to put a call to action to get people to click? Then again if you look for something or get it send does it matter what the frame looks like? See what you think:
